The Bridgewater Blues Band

Jeremy George

Jeremy was first introduced to music around 5 years old by his parents’ collection of 78s, 45s and LPs, which were mainly 1950s rock ‘n’ roll. He was drawn particularly to the Jerry Lee Lewis songs.

At school, aged 11 years old, he was in music class one day and heard the teacher play a basic boogie version of In The Mood on the piano, and was dazzled by it. That, coupled with the Jerry Lee records he’d been so mesmerised with as a youngster, made him want to learn the piano “Only ‘cause I wanted to play Jerry Lee stuff!” He taught himself piano at 13 years old, guitar at 14 years old, and became more interested in the blues and country. The later years introduced rock and southern rock to him, and he played blues, rock ‘n’ roll and country piano in a number of bands. He also liked to ‘do a bit’ with an acoustic guitar, singing country and easy listening numbers at ‘jam nights’, and indulging in some drums and harmonica too…

It was at a jam night that he turned to the bass when the regular bassist desired a nicotine intake, and took to it like the proverbial…

Influences: The ‘genre’ rather than particular bassists (however, Tommy Shannon (Stevie Ray Vaughan), Ken Lyons and Larry Junstrom (.38 Special), Berry Oakley (The Allman Brothers Band) and Leon Wilkerson (Lynyrd Skynyrd) spring to mind). Favourite bands and singers: Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Outlaws, .38 Special, The Marshall Tucker Band, Gram Parsons, BB King, Memphis Slim, Pete Johnson and Albert Ammons, Jeff Healey, The Rolling Stones, Joni Mitchell, George Strait, Dr. John, Brian Setzer, Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen…. way too many list
