The Bridgewater Blues Band |
Born in Macclesfield and started at an early age playing with friends in the local school band and later forming their first proper band, with me as drummer, performing at surrounding village halls and dance halls. Greatly influenced by the Sixties Blues Booms and progressive rock musicians like Hendrix, Cream, local hero John Mayall, and so on.
In 1968 joined the psychedelic band The Purple Gang who was infamous for writing a song called “Granny Takes a Trip” which was the very first song/band to be banned by the BBC. The band toured the north of England college circuit for 4 years supporting bands/musicians like David Bowie, 10cc etc
In 1971 I had a chance to join Paul Jones and The Blues Band but I have turned it down – a decision, which I always regret.
In 1998 rejoined the Purple Gang and the same year we recorded “The Night of The Uncool” and re recorded the Sixties hit song “Granny Takes a Trip”

I have been playing in The Purple Gang with Gabor since 2002. During this time the band toured in Hungary and one of their songs “Sunset over the Mersey” became number 1 knocking George Michael, and Britney Spears, off the top of the charts. Joined Bridgewater Blues in April 2010 where I am enjoying every minute of pure Blues music.
